spindle motor question (generator)?
i disasembled a hard driver and removed the spindle motor. i then removed the 3 disks and washers then replaced them back onto the motor with all the disks togeather and the washes togeather as well. now i want to use the spindle motor as a generator by spinning the disks. on the spindle motor where to controler board used to connect there are 4 connections(wires) going into the spindle motor. now i dont know much about this part but i need to know
1. what kinda of motor is this?
2. how can i measure current from the connections, when spinning the disks?
3. and any other tips for using this small spindle motor and a generator.

i know its a preaty cheesy generator but im Just messing around 
+ spindle motor have awsome bearings and are really ballanced.
Well it was a brushless electronically commutated DC motor, spinning it will give you a polyphase (probably 3 phase) AC output, I don’t know the exact connections, I’d guess a “Y” with a lead to the mid point, but spinning it and checking pairs of leads with a multimeter on a AC volt range, or an oscilloscope, should let you figure it out.
Note that the voltage will not be particularly high, so if you add diodes to get DC, you will probably want to use low forward voltage drop ones, like Schottky diodes
