What is the difference btw a “shower diverter” and a “flow control/stop valve”?
I thought a “shower diverter” (3 port) meant that you change from running the bath or the showerhead… then what is a “flow control/stop valve”??
The diverter valve does just that-takes water from one port and diverts, or moves it to another. RE: the tub spout to the showerhead, or from the showerhead to body sprays. A flow control valve just regulates the amount of water that each device is getting, and/or shutting it off completely. Just be aware, that many “stop” valves will not shut off flow totally. Pressure-balance shower/tub faucets require a small amount of water to flow through them at all times to maintain the balancing feature, so many stop valves take that into consideration and to not stop all water flow.
